BC Childrens Hospital Foundation
Together with the community, BC Children's Hospital Foundation has been working to raise $22.5 million for the Child & Family Research Institute, a facility committed to world-class research spanning a wide range of children's health concerns. The new research complex, which will cost a total of $42.4 million, has doubled the Institute's research space and capacity.
The new four-storey facility is linked to the existing research building and provides cohesiveness to the entire structure. The new complex provides accommodation for various programs and departments that were previously decentralized or located in overcrowded facilities, and ensures the Institute remains an international leader in child and family health research.
The wide range of research programs housed in the Child & Family Research Institute include: Cardiovascular Sciences; Childhood Diabetes; Genetics; Immunology; Infectious & Inflammatory Diseases; Neurobiology and Mental Health; Nutrition and Oncology.
Funds raised at the 2006 Fishing for Kids Fundraising Tournament went toward the new Mental Health Centre at BC Children's Hospital. Funds raised for the hospital at the 2007, 2008 and 2009 events were donated to the Child & Family Research Institute.
